OSiX is driven by founder Mick, whose hands-on expertise spans over two decades at the sharp edge of ocean operations. With a background in the New Zealand and UK Special Forces, Mick brings a rare combination of tactical discipline and deep operational experience to the subsea domain.

Over 20 years, he worked offshore as a Saturation Diver in the oil and gas industry, later qualifying as a CSWIP 3.4U Underwater Inspector Controller and OGP Client Representative. This unique blend of frontline experience and technical expertise fuels OSIX’s mission: to create an action-focused, real-world showcase for the systems transforming ocean exploration and operations today.

In addition to his military and deep-sea operational background, Mick brings extensive experience in the meetings and events space, with a strong track record in coordinating high-level industry gatherings. He currently supports the delivery of ongoing annual conference, giving him first - hand insight into what makes an event successful, impactful, and valuable to its participants. This unique blend of field expertise and event execution underpins the vision and delivery of the Ocean Systems Innovation Expo.
